The salute exchanged between Marine Officer and enlisted Marine is more than a gesture of respect- it is a pact: your planning for their preparedness, your decisiveness for their determination, their trust for yours. It takes leadership potential to be Marine Officer material, as mission success will depend on the decisions you hand down. To lead Marines is an opportunity and a responsibility. To earn this title is to guard its prominence, for it is a distinction few are capable of attaining.
The Officer Selection Team, RS Los Angeles, recruits qualified applicants for the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) and Officer Candidate Course (OCC) programs. They ensure that all candidates are trained, motivated, and prepared to succeed at Officer Candidates School (OCS). That all candidates maintain their moral, mental and physical standards to continue their involvement in the PLC and OCC programs. Finally, they ensure all fully trained candidates are commissioned Second Lieutenants in the United States Marine Corps.
